How To Remember A Name?

We are known by our name first and then we are remembered for our deeds.

Thus, it is important to know and remember a name.

Remembering and addressing someone by his/her name is regarded as a mark of respect.

But, don’t we often forget a name?

And isn’t embarrassing to ask someone’s name for the second and third time?

In the first place, you thought it was easy to remember it.

So, you made no extra effort to remember the name, right?

But, later on, at a time when you need to recall the name, you just don’t remember it.

You are confused. Hum….was it Jerry ….or Henry, is she Jessy ….or Rosy?

You are not sure.

It is not a good thing to ask him/her name once again.

For some, it may be insulting, and for some others it may be irritating to say the name again.

Certainly, it is important to change this habit of not remembering the name.

In a business environment, such lapses are viewed seriously as it affects the company image,

I find The following technique very useful:

The best technique to remember a name during a conversation — either face to face or over telephone — is to:

a. Listen carefully and get the name understood correctly.

b. Get it spelt out and how to pronounce it correctly.

b. Jot it down immediately in your diary.

c. Get the name registered in your mind by using the name two or there times during conversation.

For example, your sentences can be something like:

Where are you from Mr.Robinson?

How was the flight, Robinson?

So, what do you do Mr.Raj?

How long you would be here Mr.Raj?

How do you like the city David?

When are you returning Mr.David? and so on….

Try it out next time.
