Have A Crocodile Attitude

“Do you like to have a crocodile in your swimming pool”?, asked the trainer.

“No”, came the reply, like a bullet.

“But why”? The trainer asked again.

“Because I don’t know to swim”, said the student.

Just like the young student, we all will have our own reasons too.

True, no-one would like to have a beast of this species around his/her living place.

But, what if the beast had a different attitude towards man, like this ONE crocodile.

I am sure, you will fall in love with him, like Steve Irwin, and you may harvest the idea about having one right in your pool.

Here is a real story about a crocodile and some villagers.

Steve Irwin would have loved to meet this beast as well as the villagers for their extra ordinary attitude.

For the residents of Bawa Mohtara village in Bemetara district in Chhattisgarh, India, the death of a crocodile has been a great loss.

The beast lived in a village pond and he lived for about 130 years!

Guess what has been the secret behind its long life?

The villagers’ sheer love and concern for the beast!

They all loved and worshipped him as their protector. For the villagers, numbering about 500, the beast was next to God.

They had fondly named the crocodile as `Gangaram’ — a combination of two divine names: “Ganga” and “Ram”.

Life has been good for the beast as well as the villagers. Both the reptile and the villagers lived hand-in-hand.

To their shock, one day the villagers found the crocodile dead. The panic-stricken villagers took out funeral procession and bid an emotional adieu to the beast who loved them. The mourning villagers did not cook food for that day. They also decided to set up a memorial temple on the bank of the pond where the friendly animal was buried. While conducting the last rites, the villagers touched the carcass and sought its blessings.

The villagers said all of them including the children used to bathe everyday in the same pond where the crocodile lived but it never harmed anyone!

Have a crocodile’s attitude — LIVE and LET LIVE!!
